Sacramento Republic FC added to its legacy yesterday, when the club signed 13-year-old Da’vian Kimbrough — making him the youngest professional athlete in American team sports history.

Da’vian has been a familiar face around the club since 2021, when he joined Republic FC’s Academy at age 11. Facing kids in a higher age division, he scored a team-leading 27 goals in 31 matches — good enough to help the team to a nationwide-best 30-1 record, with 27 straight victories to begin the season. He is the sixth Republic FC Academy student that the club has signed since it began in 2015.

The signing makes Da’vian eligible to play for the Indomitable Club in USL matches — including Saturday’s road game against Birmingham Legion FC. The club’s first home game with Da’vian is the tenth anniversary celebration at Hughes Stadium.
