Kings fans have a lot to be excited about headed into the 2022-2023 season — which tips off Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Much like the title of an old Lil’ Wayne mixtape, Kings fans are hoping tha drought is over and that the team can finally earn a playoff berth for the first time since the 2005-2006 season.

Here are a few tidbits to help you get excited:

  • The Kings hired Mike Brown to be the team’s new head coach, who has only posted two losing seasons in his eight years in the role for other teams.
  • The team’s lineup has changed dramatically following last season’s trade to acquire Domantas Sabonis.
  • The Kings selected Keegan Murray with the No. 4 overall pick in June’s NBA Draft, who was later named the NBA Summer League MVP.
  • ESPN’s Marc Spears has predicted Murray will win Rookie of the Year honors, and that the team will make the playoffs.
