Think you have what it takes to play with the pros? This weekend — Saturday, Jan. 20 + Sunday, Jan. 21 — Sacramento Republic FC will hold open tryouts at Bartholomew Sports Park (10150 Franklin High Rd.) in Elk Grove for local athletes to potentially score a roster spot.

Athletes will get the chance to show their skills in front of Republic staff, including President Todd Dunivant and head coach Mark Briggs.

Each year, the club selects one tryout participant to join the team for preseason training camp. Over the past 10 years, six of those selected players have gone on to sign pro contracts with the club:

  • Emrah Klimenta (2014)
  • Max Alvarez (2014)
  • Mackenzie Pridham (2016)
  • Elliott Hord (2016)
  • Ashkanov Apollon (2020)
  • Aldair Sanchez (2023)

To be eligible, participants must be 18+, bring their own equipment, and register for the event ahead of time.
