A fair-ly good time

The Sacramento County Fair returns to Cal Expo Thursday, May 25-Monday, May 29. We are more than ready to get our hands on a corn dog, listen to some music, play some games, and then regret that corn dog after a ride on the Zipper.

Step right up and catch a glimpse of what the 2023 Sac County Fair has in store.

🎡 Important details

The fair is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. every day except Monday, when it closes at 7 p.m. (the carnival rides don’t begin operating until 11 a.m., so feel free to sleep in if that’s your main goal).

Tickets range slightly in price:

  • General admission: $12
  • Teens (12-17): $10
  • Kids (12 and under): Free
  • Older adults (60+): $8 on Friday, May 25
  • Military (with ID): Free on Monday, May 29

A parking pass costs $10 — and if you want unlimited rides during your visit, you can grab a wristband for $35.

🎡 The entertainment

There are so many acts to see, we hardly know where to begin. Whether you come for the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs or Great American Duck Races (it’s both for us), you’ll be sure to stay for the Destruction Derby or “The World’s Most Authentic Tribute to Van Halen” — Fan Halen.

There are also dog stunt shows, monster trucks, magicians, and so much more. Check out the full schedule of entertainment.

🎡 The food

We love some good fair grub like funnel cakes, turkey legs, and deep fried Oreos. While we don’t have confirmation of this year’s vendors, some of last year’s offerings included Dole Whip, Noel’s Mexican Food, Jeanne’s Artichokes Etc., PHD & Me, and Funnel Cake Express.
