Tram Cream Coffee, 6829 Stockton Blvd., Ste. 395 | Coffee + banh mi | Need a lil’ pick-me-up? This San Jose-based Vietnamese coffee shop is now open in South Sacramento. The menu includes bold coffee drinks brewed the Vietnamese phin way, like the brand’s beloved Egg Cream Coffee, plus fruit teas, juices, and the Matchahaya topped with a buttery layer of matcha. Fun fact: “Tram” means “station” in Vietnamese, and the cafe hopes to be “a stop to recharge, reflect, or connect.”

Stepdad’s, 2968 Freeport Blvd. | American | Reservations | This aptly-named spot replaces Dad’s Kitchen in Land Park and serves elevated tavern fare, craft beer, and craft cocktails.

Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters, 12th + L streets | Cafe | Put on another pot of coffee. The award-winning Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters has brewed up a buzzy new downtown location with a cozy vibe and plenty of seating. Grab a cup.

SAC Flemings Steakhouse

There’s a lot at steak here.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 1101 Galleria Blvd., Roseville | Steakhouse | The SoCal chain will open a location in Roseville on Monday, June 30 — its first ever in Placer County. The restaurant will offer caviar service, USDA prime + classic steaks, seafood, and a curated wine list.

Pushkin’s Bakery, 2920 Arden Way, Ste. A | Bakery + cafe | The local bakery expanded to Arden-Arcade in late May 2025 with its beloved wheat-, gluten-, and dairy-free baked goods in a cute cafe setting.

Sal’s Kabob and Gyro Grill, 728 K St. | Mediterranean | The Elk Grove eatery expanded to Sacramento, opening in The Hardin near Downtown Commons. The menu features classic Greek dishes, shawarmas, kabobs, Philly cheesesteaks, pizzas, and burgers.

4ESTea, 2256 Sunrise Blvd., Ste. B, Rancho Cordova | Filipino | This new boba, matcha shop, and bistro is inspired by Filipino flavors that the owners grew up eating. The menu includes lumpia, cheese fries, silog bowls, halo-halo, specialty lattes made with Filipino custard, and lots of refreshing drinks.

Horn Barbecue, 9700 Railroad St., Elk Grove | Barbecue | The popular Bay Area restaurant opened to long lines at the former site of Slow & Low Smokehouse. The menu includes brisket, beef ribs (on Saturdays only), pork spare ribs, burnt ends, hot links, sandwiches, and sides like collard greens and potato salad.

Chef Burma, 1020 16th St., Ste. 10 | Burmese | Hailing from the owners of My Burma in Davis, this is Sacramento’s first Burmese restaurant. The menu includes appetizers like samusas, noodle dishes like the Burmese-style pad Thai, and lots of veggie options.

The Shop Midtown, 1720 J St. | American | Reservations | Co-owner Tony Ngo took over the former site of Red Beret from his aunt with visions of creating something entirely new but still family-owned + operated. The name is a nod to the family’s love of cars and motorcycles. The menu offers comfort food like burgers, fries, and sandwiches.

Field-n-Flame, 1521 L St. | American + Mediterranean | Reservations | This midtown spot offers handcrafted drinks and Mediterranean-influenced small plates, including octopus skewers, grilled halloumi, and Italian meatballs.

Chu Mai, 1829 17th St. | Contemporary Asian + Southeast Asian | Renowned Sacramento Chef Buu “Billy” Ngo’s new midtown venture has a lot of personality. He told “The Sacramento Bee” that the Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant is his love letter to his mother, from its name to its decor. In the dining room, patrons will find three portraits of Ngo’s mom at different life stages. Ahem — I hope my kids are taking notes.

Coming Soon

Good Neighbor, 1701 R St. | American + pizza | Projected opening: summer 2025 | The newest restaurant from Urban Roots Hospitality Group is scheduled to open this summer in the Ice Blocks development in midtown at the former Beast + Bounty site. The menu will feature wood-fired pizzas, steak, burgers, and salads — aka “elevated familiar foods.”

Angry Chickz, 9624 Bruceville Rd., Ste. 102, Elk Grove | Chicken | Projected opening: summer 2025 | The Nashville-style hot chicken chain is comin’ in hot this summer, opening its first location in Elk Grove at Elk Grove Commons on Friday, June 27. The menu will feature chicken tenders, creamy mac ‘n’ cheese, fries, signature sauce, and a range of spice levels.

Hawthorne’s Hideout, 102 K St. | Reservations | This tiki-themed, underground speakeasy will open on Tuesday, July 1 in Old Sacramento. The space will tell the fictional story of a character named Elias Hawthorne and will feature light + sound shows that go with the drinks on the menu. Only private bookings will be available at first; individual reservations open on Friday, Aug. 1.

The Posh Bagel, Locations TBD | Bakery | Projected opening: late 2025 | Holy moly. The Bay Area-based bakery plans to open six locations in Greater Sacramento, including a shop in Rancho Cordova and two in El Dorado Hills by the middle or end of 2025. For now, get your bagel fix at the bakeries in Folsom or Roseville.

Crazee for Pasta, 2204 Sunrise Blvd. | Italian | Projected opening: fall 2025 | Promising a “taste of Italy,” this new spot will open in Rancho Cordova with a menu that includes appetizers like bruschetta, caprese, and burrata fresca; ~20 pasta entrees like spaghetti, fettuccine, penne, ravioli, and lasagna; and flatbread pizzas.
