Dimple Records had multiple area locations, as well as a companion used bookstore.

City Editor Jordan here — in my time living in Sacramento, I’ve had my fair share of local businesses that I love leave me (am I the problem?). Like any lost love, there are days where I find myself pining for their return — which brings us to my question of the day: What local businesses would you like to see make a comeback?

To get you started, here are my top three choices (in no particular order):

Dimple Records

This is probably at the top of a lot of people’s lists — and with a 45-year history in the City of Trees, who could blame them? A not-insignificant portion of both my music and movie collections come from Dimple. Call me old fashioned, but I’d rather discover new music there than through an algorithm.

The Distillery

This was a karaoke bar for the people. Rarely have I been in a place where the demographic of patrons is so varied in every metric possible, yet so welcoming. Will the next person to take the stage sing “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Buy U a Drank,” or “Before He Cheats?” Psych — it’s me, and of course I’m doing a terrible Eddie Vedder impression and singing Pearl Jam’s “Alive.”

Slice of Broadway Pizza

Show me a pizza place that will let you build your own slice with fried chicken, bacon bits, three different cheeses, and alfredo + buffalo sauces, and I’ll show you all of my money. There also used to be a tattoo parlor next door where I got a discount on my first (and only) tattoo because the artist didn’t realize he was flirting with my mom, so bring that place back too.

What local spots would you like to see come back? Let us know .
