WWE Superstar Bill Goldberg played defensive tackle for the Sacramento Surge.

Today I learned that Sacramento once had a professional football team — the Sacramento Surge — which played two seasons as part of the World League of American Football, the precursor to the now-defunct NFL Europe. The Surge even became the only American team to win the league’s championship, known as the World Bowl, after the 1992 season.

The craziest part? WWE superstar Bill Goldberg played defensive tackle for the championship team. 🤯
