Here’s what Sacramento googled the most in 2022

It appears that Sacramento has a very diverse taste in music.

As the year draws to a close, Google has released its annual Year in Search — an interactive webpage that allows you to view search trends at a local (or global) level. Here’s what Sacramento searched for in 2022:

🐋 What’s the deal with bowhead whales? The Sacramento area was the only place in the US that had this sea creature as its top trending animal. While we’re not sure where the fascination comes from, we did a quick search to find out that the Arctic species weighs 75-100 pounds and has an average length of 50-60 ft.

🎶 Sacramento was one of only three places with country concerts as a top trending “near me” search (our guess is that’s thanks to the first-ever GoldenSky Country Music Festival in October). However, the Sacramento area also searched for rap more than any other music genre.

📍 Other popular “near me” search trends included orthodontists, gas prices, estate sales, pilates, and festivals.

🍽️ The Sacramento area must have also had love on the brain, because marry me chicken was the top trending recipe. The hearty dish went viral on TikTok earlier this year and combines ingredients like boneless chicken, Parmesan cheese, heavy cream, and sundried tomatoes. Try this recipe.
