Hey Sacramentans, Jordan Radach + Matt Marcure here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing local news, events, and conversations with 15,000+ readers in Sac, daily — here, and on our socials.

After three-ish months of bringing you SACtoday, we thought we should formally introduce ourselves. Consider this us going in for a fist bump, then switching to a handshake, then settling on a hug.

Meet Jordan 👾

Q: In your opinion, what is Sac’s unofficial mascot?

A: The only acceptable answer is Kenny The Dancing Man, obviously.

Q: Describe your perfect day in Sac in the length of a Tweet (240 characters).

A: Breakfast at Oscar’s, lunch at Jack’s, dinner at Vito’s. If you know, you know.

Q: Fill in the blank: The coolest person I’ve met in Sac is ___________.

A: When I was a young boy, I met Gerard Way — lead singer of My Chemical Romance — at Arden Fair Mall the day before they had a show with Linkin Park at (what was then) Sleep Train Amphitheatre. He graciously ducked into Bath & Body Works to snap a photo with me, and it was awesome.

Q:Hit us with your favorite piece of local trivia:

A: This is really tough for me, as there are so many historical tidbits that I love about our city. The one I rarely hear people talk about, however, is that Sacramento threw the world’s first electrical parade in 1895 — something which would inspire Paris to throw their own and even laid the groundwork for Disneyland’s light parade.

Q: Describe your perfect day in SAC in the length of a Tweet (240 characters).

A: I’d wake up around 8 a.m., eat breakfast at home, then hop on my bike for Temple Coffee on H St. There, I’d read before snagging lunch at Pushkin’s Bakery to power up for a bike ride along the American River. I’d end it with a flight at Nitty’s with my friends.

Q:True or False: Paradise Beach is the best outdoors spot in SAC?

A: Paradise Beach is absolutely my favorite place in Sacramento to get outdoors, and not necessarily for swimming. I love exploring — and occasionally getting lost on — its mycelium-like trails that pass under gorgeous tree canopies. It’s also my favorite place to see nature: river otters, beavers, and wood ducks to name just a few. The fact that there’s a tennis court at nearby Glenn Hall Park is the icing on the cake for me.
