City Editor Jordan here and — I have to admit — like many people, I’ve spent the last few months mostly in the comfort of my own home. But it looks like the River City will get the last laugh, because I recently visited Punch Line Sacramento for the “There Goes The Neighborhood” Comedy Show — and between the laughs, atmosphere, food + drinks, I’ve already planned my next night out there.

What we tried (with pricing):

Punch Line Sac has a two-drink minimum for all audience members at their shows (with non-alcoholic options available as well). I paired a Lady Bird Margarita ($18 + hit the perfect flavor balance without falling into that “dangerously delicious” category) with the Punch Line Nachos ($13 + can have chicken or pulled pork added for an additional cost) because anything else just seemed wrong.

What not to miss:

Punch Line’s signature cocktails (Strawberry Vodka Lemonade + Cherry Bourbon Smash) both come in fun souvenir shaker glasses and even get you a discount on your refill (at $19 for the drink + cup, it’s a tough deal to pass up).

What we’re still talking about:

How funny the comedians were. While Punch Line may be filled with photos of comedy heavyweights who have graced its stage — including some of my personal heroes — all of the acts I saw during the show I attended were smaller, mostly local comics who killed, proving that the people at Punch Line are able to recognize and give a platform to talented performers at every level.
