Hagginwood Park sports field gets a makeover

Time to play ball

The updated field is lined for soccer and flag football.

Let’s kick it. Hagginwood Park’s sports field (3271 Marysville Blvd.) has received an update, courtesy of Sacramento’s Department of Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment.

The department announced that it installed new shock padding at the park and replaced the synthetic turf first put in 13 years ago. Part of the new turf field is made with cork filler, which will keep the temperature of the field up to 20° cooler on average.

The majority of funding for the $650,000 project, which finished ~two months ahead of schedule, came from Measure U tax dollars — the 2012-approved half-cent sales tax aimed at funding city services.

Looking for somewhere else to play? The City of Trees has 100+ athletic fields for local frolicking.
