🥗 What’s for lunch?
Now that’s a lunch break. The tacos at La Venadita are always a good choice for lunch. | Photo via @lavenditasac
Looking for lunch in Sacramento? What about a sandwich or salad? Or maybe some tacos? Don’t compromise – or break the bank. We’ve got the best lunch deals around town (including some of our favorites).
Sandwiches and wraps
Guy’s for Lunch
This shop is known for its sandwiches made on fluffy homemade bread that cost around $13. Try the chicken salad sandwich or treat yourself to a $15 sandwich from the secret menu — we suggest The Nor Cal. By the way, this eatery ranked No. 21 on Yelp’s 2025 Top 100 Places to Eat in the US.
Salads and bowls
Mendocino Farms
The salads here are big, fresh, and colorful. Coming in at just under $15, try the limited-time Baja Green Goddess topped with chicken adobado, roasted corn, hatch chiles, black beans, jicama, avocado, and more.
Tacos
La Vedanita
The tacos start at $5.25 each, so grab a couple — maybe something traditional like the carnitas paired with something more daring like the Vampiro with al pastor pork, fried cheese, salsa ranchera, red onions, and cilantro.
OK, I’m starstruck. The new buddy road trip comedy “Sacramento” hits theaters on Friday, April 11. Its first trailer was recently released, and our city is everywhere.
The movie follows two longtime friends — Rickey played by Michael Angarano and Glenn played by Michael Cera — as they take an impromptu road trip from LA to Sacramento.
