February is National Library Lovers Month, so today we are sharing six local Little Free Libraries with you. If you’ve never heard of Little Free Library, it’s a nonprofit working to create a love of reading by supporting neighborhood book exchanges all over the world.
These little libraries can come in many different shapes + sizes, but they all function the same: The books are free to take, with community members encouraged to donate their own. Little Free Library even has a map feature that allows you to see all of the locations in your area.
So, treat yo shelf. Check out some of our favorite Little Free Libraries in the Sacramento area.

If you want to start your own “LFL,” you can make one yourself or order a kit online – just make sure to register your location. And if you know of an area that is in need of an LFL, read about the Impact Program Library, which allows underserved communities to have a Little Free Library placed in their neighborhood for free.
Is there another library near you that deserves the spotlight? Let us know.
