As part of the Community Mural Sacramento program hosted by the city’s Office of Arts and Culture, Sacramentans are invited to join in on four free events allowing them to paint murals in their community.

Last February, the city put out a call for local artists to lead the charge in creating 10 murals across the River City. Of the 136 applicants, 39 were chosen to create the community-based art across eight districts — such as Natomas + Del Paso.

The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing “Creative Edge” plan, which aims to bring arts + culture to all areas of Sacramento.

So far, six murals have already gone up around the region:

Three events are planned for May, and will feature food, vendors + live music for residents to enjoy. Paint supplies will be provided, and artists of all levelsfrom scribblers to DaVincis — are encouraged to join.

A fourth event will be held at 3271 Marysville Blvd. in June, with a date to be announced in the near future.
