Apple Hill, we see you + we love you, but sit down for a moment. The City of Sacramento is becoming a great place to grab locally-made cider — and not just from off the shelf at the Sacramento Foods Co-Op, Corti Brothers, or Taylor’s Market.
We’re talking cider houses + cideries that you’d be hard-pressed to not visit for a round or two. Here are three spots in the City of Trees to grab a crisp, cool hard apple brew with your crew.
🍺 Two Rivers Cider
📍4311 Attawa Ave.
🕒Tues.-Fri. 5-9 p.m, Sat. 1-9 p.m. + Sun. 1-7 p.m.
A neighborhood hangout + venue for live music, workshops, and drag shows, this Curtis Park tasting room is located on the same premises where the cider is micro-brewed. Staples like huckleberry and original apple are rounded out by limited releases + seasonally rotating taps.
Try This: We’re big fans of their Honey Badger Imperial Cider — what’s not to love about a hard apple drink flavored with local honey?
🍺 Nitty’s Cider
📍3201 Folsom Blvd.
🕒Tues.-Fri 3-9 p.m. + Sat.-Sun. 12-9 p.m.
This Clarksburg-based cidery is the newest to hit Sacramento, opening less than a month ago on Sat., March 5. The spacious garage-like space features bar games like cornhole, chalk for drawing on the outdoor patio’s asphalt + 16 different flavors on tap.
Try This: There are so many unusual and great flavors, but, if we had to only get one, it would have to be Cruel Summer, a strawberry-banana cider.
🍺 Cider House
📍1111 24th St.
🕒Wed.-Fri. 5-10 p.m., Sat. 1-10 p.m. + Sun. 1-7 p.m.
This watering hole in Midtown doesn’t produce its own cider, but it certainly slings a lot of locally crafted pours, like those from Hemly + Nitty’s.
Try This: If you don’t like dem apples, we quite like the pear cider from Hemly’s.
