The Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s tenth annual Big Day of Giving event is happening Thurs., May 5.

Since 2013, the all-day gala has helped raise $65 million for local nonprofits by asking residents + businesses alike to “unleash generosity in the capital region.”

This year, the event is rallying the community to support more than 700 different nonprofit organizations who have submitted Big Day of Giving campaigns. Beginning at 12 a.m. sharp, you can help your favorite nonprofits reach their fundraising goals over the course of 24 hours.

But wait — there’s more. Many nonprofits have secured matching opportunites, and if you have a debit or credit card with the local Golden 1 Credit Union your donation will be matched proportionally — up to $100,000.

On top of this, there will be various prizes + boosts throughout the day that take your donation dollars even further. To name just a few:

  • Midnight Madness: donate either within the first or last ten minutes of the day for a chance at a $500 boost
  • Hourly Donor Challenge: every hour, BDOG will award $500 to the organization that had the most unique donors
  • Spread Generosity Challenge: share a display you’ve created that promotes generosity over social media for the chance to win $750 for a nonprofit of your choice

Can’t wait until the big day? Kick-off the celebration early with nine different events, like Yolo Basin Foundation’s “California Duck Days” on April 30, or Sisters of Nia’s “Positive Affirmation Paint & Sip” on April 31.

You can also donate to any participating organization early — or even schedule your donation in advancehere.
