This year’s Causeway Classic definitely lived up to its name — coming down to the final seconds as the Aggies attempted a game-winning drive before time expired.

Sac State got the 27-21 win over UC Davis in front of a record-setting home crowd of more than 23,000 during Saturday afternoon. The No. 2 ranked Hornets secured their third straight Big Sky Conference championship and set a school record for wins in a season after clinching an 11-0 undefeated record.

Yesterday, the Hornets were awarded the No. 2 seed in the FCS playoffs, guaranteeing the team up to three home playoff games — provided they continue to win. UC Davis was not awarded a playoff berth following their 6-5 season.
