City officials are beginning another round of maintenance for Sacramento’s flood prevention systems. The Department of Utilities has work planned at four sites across the city, which will begin on staggered dates between today and Thursday, Dec. 21. (Sacramento City Express)

Three-time WNBA champion Chelsea Gray is joining the Sacramento Kings broadcast team, according to a press release from the team. Prior to her nine year WNBA career, Gray played college basketball at Duke and was a top five recruit out of St. Mary’s High School in Stockton.

Beginning in January, John F. Kennedy High School will offer courses for students to learn about building and maintaining electric vehicles. The move comes on the heels of a state law that mandates all cars sold in California be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. (Cap Radio)

The Bay Area-based photographer who was known for collaborating with farm-to-fork chefs, Gail Skoff, has donated a personal collection of photographs to the UC Davis Library. Skoff’s photos can be seen on display in the Peter J. Shields Library, as well as the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art until Sunday, Dec. 17.

Raw Superfoods Cafe is coming to Howe ‘Bout Arden. The chain — which is based in the Bay Area + already has an Elk Grove location — will fill the 1,307-sqft space left behind by ice cream shop CREAM, with an expected February opening. (Sac Biz Journal)
Drink
Palm Tree Brewing Co. is planning on converting the space at 10148 Fair Oaks Blvd. into a brewery and taproom. Co-owner Derek Clark said the space is expected to open between August and September of next year, with plans for a covered rooftop patio in the works as well. (Sac Biz Journal)
