Sacramento’s biggest rock and heavy metal music festival is almost upon us as Aftershock prepares to kick off Thursday, Oct. 5-Sunday, Oct. 8.

No need to be quaking in your boots about what to expect: We’re here to give you a complete guide to the festival, so you can rock and roll all night and party every day.

🎸 The bands

More than 90 bands will grace the event’s four stages at Discovery Park across its four-day running time. Some of the big names performing each day include:

Discover the history of Sacramento during the Sacramento Archives Crawl

Sacramentans are invited to uncover the history of their city this weekend when the Center for Sacramento History opens its vault to the public in celebration of the 13th Annual Sacramento Archives Crawl.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, community members can visit one of four locations citywide between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to peruse photographs, artifacts, and historical documents from 1930s Sacramento:
  • Center for Sacramento History, 551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd.
  • Sacramento Public Library, 828 I St.
  • California State Library, 914 Capitol Mall
  • California State Archives, 1020 O St.
Guests who visit three of the above sites will be gifted a set of coasters commemorating this year’s theme, “Myth, Folklore & Legend.” Free bus rides will be available between each location as well.

One time in college I got a gig at Aftershock 2015 driving bands from their trailers to the stage and was tasked with driving Slipknot to their performance. I was also explicitly told to not look at or directly address them other than saying “have a great show.” It was awkward.
