If you’re feeling less productive, anxious, and stressed-out, you might need to take a mental health day. We all deserve one.

Here are some ways you can recharge and reset in Sacramento.

Get some fresh air

Take advantage of the weather and go for a walk around your area like the promenade along the American River Parkway near the Guy West Bridge at Sac State or the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge . Fully immerse yourself in nature with a Sacramento Waterfront Trail hike or one of the many other trails in the area.

Not looking to do something active? Grab a book or some close friends and sit outside at one of the local parks . Alternatively, pick up some food and have a picnic — we love grabbing takeout and heading to McKinley Park.

Do something creative

Check out some of the craft classes at the Verge Center for the Arts , sign up for a poetry workshop at Sacramento Poetry Center , or take a pottery class at Sincere Ceramics .

Get in a workout

It can be difficult to fit in active time during the work week, so taking some time to get your body moving can be a great way to utilize time. If you’re looking to really break a sweat, try out a kickboxing class at TITLE Boxing Club . Yoga is also a great option — find free classes throughout the community through Free Yoga Sacramento .

Looking for additional information or resources about mental health? The city has a list of local resources for counseling, support groups, and a full crisis response team.
