Sacramento Republic FC Home Opener

Saturday, March 8 | Heart Health Park
Our city’s pro soccer team will kick off its 2025 season with a match against New Mexico United — tickets go on sale Thursday, Feb. 6. The team will go on to play 16 additional games at home through late October, and more on the road.

Sacramento Beer Week

Friday, April 25-Saturday, May 3 | Multiple locations
This annual event organized by the Sacramento Area Brewers Guild celebrates our region’s breweries, taprooms, and restaurants creating great craft brews. Expect lots of fun events at local breweries, from bingo and karaoke nights to special beer releases.

This local summertime staple rocks. The free, all-ages, weekly event showcases the talents of local musicians and features food vendors, artists, and all-around great vibes.

Announced

Sac is always servin’. A professional women’s volleyball team will debut in Sacramento in January 2026 as part of Major League Volleyball, a new league co-founded by Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, Kerri Walsh Jennings, and Jason Derulo. Our home team doesn’t have a set name or venue just yet. (ABC 10)

Open

A new shelter lined with 155 tiny homes is open in south Sacramento as a resource to get locals into safe housing. The Stockton Boulevard Stay Safe Community includes restrooms with showers, a laundry room, a cafeteria, and services like case management, behavioral health, job placement, and housing assistance. (The Sacramento Bee)

Traffic

Sacramento’s proposed Truxel Bridge over the American River would connect south Natomas and downtown, but an advisory committee is hoping that cars won’t be allowed on it. The committee believes this would make the bridge a safer place for cyclists and pedestrians. Sacramento City Council will review the idea next. (CBS News)

Closing

Freestyle Clothing Exchange will close its Fair Oaks location on Sunday, Jan. 26 and items are up to 75% off. The buy-sell-trade store is known for its stylish thrifted threads and also has locations in Midtown, Roseville, and Folsom, all of which remain open.

The City of Sacramento is seeking a long-term operator to manage the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market, which will reopen for the season this spring at the Meadowview Light Rail parking lot. Proposals will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24; the contract is valued at $320,000.

Active

Corremos Sacramento, a Latino-led running + walking club open to all, will step into its 2025 season on Monday, Jan. 27 with a 6:30 p.m. walk at McKinley Park. The group will then meet every Monday to walk or run for an hour — the pace + distance is up to you.

Crocker Art Museum is seeking established + emerging local artists to submit their work for the museum’s 2025 Art Auction season running May 8 through June 7. The season includes two live events, two virtual auctions, and hundreds of works up for bidding. Submissions are due by Thursday, Feb. 28.
