The Sacramento River Cats recently wrapped their 2024 season, but we’re already looking forward to next year. For fans 12 and under, the team is offering its Dinger’s Kids Club membership, which includes a lawn ticket to all 13 Sunday home games, a T-shirt, and special activities throughout the 2025 season. The North Sacramento Façade and Property Improvement Grant Program is awarding $643,000 in grants to fund exterior improvements (think: new paint, signs, doors, windows + awnings) for 34 locations on commercial corridors within District 2. Recipients include Asian Cafe, Greater Sacramento Urban League, and TAP Wine Lounge.
State
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 3216 into law, a bill that requires California’s public schools to limit or ban the use of cellphones beginning July 1, 2026. According to Newsom, the Phone-Free School Act is meant to help students focus on academics + social development without the distraction of their screens. (The Sacramento Bee)

YMCA’s takeover of downtown’s former Capital Athletic Club continues, with plans to finish renovations and host Capital YMCA’s grand opening in January 2025. Rebuilding Together Sacramento and Republic Services partnered to grant $250,000 to help revitalize the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank and Farm. The money will be used to build a new farmstand with permanent shade for food storage and create an educational area for Farm Camp.
