🍀 Shamrock’n Weekend | Saturday, March 11-Sunday, March 12 | Times vary | Sutter Health Park, 400 Ballpark Dr. | $20-$155 | Choose from three different races to participate in — 5K, 10K, and half-marathon — or let the kids chase a leprechaun in the half-mile Leprechaun Dash.

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival | Saturday, March 18 | 12-5 p.m. | Old Sacramento Waterfront, 1014 Second St. | Free | A parade, live music, food + drink vendors, and hidden leprechauns take over Old Sac at this annual celebration.

🍀 “Boondock Saints” | Friday, March 17 | 8 p.m. | Crest Theatre, 1013 K St. | $10-$20 | See a special screening of the 1999 cult classic starring Norman Reedus and Willem Dafoe.

🍀 Shamrock Stroll Pub Crawl | Friday, March 17-Saturday, Mar. 18 | 4 p.m. | KBAR.DOCO, 732 K St. | $7-$25 | The more friends you bring, the cheaper tickets get, since there’s a group rate — so grab the squad as you hop from bar to bar enjoying drink specials all night long.

🍀 St. Patrick’s in the Park | Saturday, March 18 | 4-10 p.m. | Malt & Mash, 715 K St. | $20 | Join the party that spills into Ali Youssefi Square with live music, a beer garden, and food from Beach Hut Deli — your ticket also gets you access to the afterparty at Social Nightclub.

Sacramento is a pretty great city, but that doesn’t mean it’s always sunshine and rainbows. Thankfully, there are not one, but two helpful Reddit threads full of tips and tricks to make life in the River City easier.

Here are five of our favorites:
  • “Buy a whole house fan.” — u/nmpls
  • “Green street signs mean you are in the city of Sac. White signs mean you are in the (unincorpated) [sic] county.” — u/jonny-spot
  • “On a hot day, go swimming in Putah Creek below the damn [sic]. The water comes out of the bottom of the lake, and it’s clear and cold when the other bodies of water are getting sludgy and warm.” — u/dustyrags
  • “Hose down bushes/trees/plants before pruning to avoid the Sacramento pollen attack.” — u/who_body
  • “If you are in an alley, on the grid, the starting letter of that alley is the street directly north.” — u/RippleMeTimbers55
