Feeling the post-Aftershock blues? Then we have something that may spur you — especially those with achy breaky hearts .
GoldenSky Festival is the country music cousin of the rock and heavy music festival, and Sacramento’s newest entry for its bid to become the City of Festivals . It’s produced by the same company as Aftershock — Danny Wimmer Presents — and is in partnership with Visit Sacramento.
The inaugural event — self-billed as a “brand new tradition” — will take its horse to the ol’ town road with headliners Tim McGraw and Sam Hunt at Discovery Park this Sat., Oct. 15-Sun., Oct. 16. Here’s all you need to know.
Ponying up 🎟️
First things first — tickets. As of last night, general admission is still available throughout the festival weekend, with Saturday starting at $79.99 and Sunday at $69.00. There are also discounted four-packs for the two-day event for you and your friends in low places.
Hoofin’ it to the show 🐎
If you’ve ever attended Aftershock, then this ain’t your first rodeo. There are two entrances concertgoers can use to get into Discovery Park, one from Garden Highway to the north and another off Jibboom Street to the south. While we wish attendees could holt their horses, there is no parking inside festival grounds — even for vehicles.
If you must drive, the festival is selling a limited amount of parking spaces nearby at $40 per day or $75 for the weekend. However, visitors are eligible for a free ride from SacRT to and from the GoldenSky. The Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates have also partnered with the concert to provide a free bike valet service.

- Mabilene: The “vintage country queen” — who takes inspiration from Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles — takes the stage on Saturday.
- Lanco: The Heartland rockers take the stage Sunday for their “Honky-tonk Hippies Tour,” which is perhaps our favorite tour name ever.
- Tim McGraw: We’ve got to be “Humble and Kind” — who wouldn’t want to check out the man, the myth, the legendary country star on Saturday?
We’re equally excited about the planned activities and event spaces that celebrate both our region and country music as a whole.
- Fieldhouse Sports Bar: Kickback after a show with a couple of beers as you watch all the top NFL and college football matchups happening this weekend.
- The Farmhouse: Explore local food booths that showcase what the Farm-to-Fork region has to offer.
- River City Saloon & Dance Hall: Honky-tonk and scoot your boot long after the sun goes down — there will also be line dancing and two-stepping dance lessons throughout the day.
The festival will also feature a beer festival with unlimited tastings of 100+ regional and craft suds, and a cannabis lounge for all you Willie Nelson fans.
