As you tap into what’s happening in the City of Trees next month, put this on your calendar — Sacramento Beer Week 2025 is Friday, April 25-Saturday, May 3.
The Sacramento Area Brewers Guild’s (SABG) annual celebration of our region’s craft beer scene is expected to include fun events (think: trivia, bingo, karaoke) at participating local breweries, taprooms, and restaurants. The official events schedule has not yet been released, but keep an eye on the Beer Week website + Instagram for updates.
For now, prep your palate by visiting a SABG brewery — here are some sudsy suggestions:

Upward Together: A Celebration of Stories| 6-10 p.m. | Laguna Town Hall, Elk Grove | $30 | It’s all about connection + community at this showcase of four speakers sharing their stories led by Capital Storytelling.

Development
Kaiser Permanente broke ground on a medical center set to open in the downtown Railyards in 2029. The 18-acre campus will include an eight-story hospital with emergency + maternity care, 310 beds, labs, and surgery and exam rooms. A five-story building next door will house medical offices and 66 exam rooms. (FOX40)
Announced
Terra Madre Americas — the US version of Italy’s Terra Madre Salone del Gusto gastronomy exhibition — will make its debut in Sacramento Friday, Sept. 26-Sunday, Sept. 28. The event will come to Sac in the odd years and showcase chefs, vintners + artisans. Watch the teaser from Visit Sacramento.
Coming Soon
Good Neighbor, a new restaurant from Urban Roots Hospitality Group, will open this June in the Ice Blocks development in midtown at the former Beast + Bounty site. The menu will feature wood-fired pizzas, steak, burgers, and salads — aka “elevated familiar foods.” (The Sacramento Bee)
Closing
Willie’s Burgers will close its Carmichael location at Arden Way + Fair Oaks this Sunday, March 31. A new concept called Gami’s Burgers will replace the restaurant. The Willie’s Burgers locations in Land Park and in Old Sacramento will remain open, so those famous Hammer burgers are still within reach. (ABC10)
Closed
After 60+ years in business, the downtown Sacramento Macy’s has closed as part of the company’s planned, nationwide downsizing of underperforming locations. The department store opened in 1963 and quickly became an anchor of the area’s shopping district. As of now, the city has no plans to redevelop the site. (ABC10)

Welcome back, King. Sacramento State hired former Sacramento Kings legend Mike Bibby as its new men’s basketball head coach. Bibby played with the Kings from 2001 to 2008 and said Sac feels like home. “We are going to build, we are going to develop, and we are going to win,” he added. (The Athletic)
Community
The city will host Earth Day cleanup and beautification events on Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., at nine locations including California Lilac Park, Sacramento Marina, and Freeport Park. Volunteer pre-registration is required and closes at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4, or whenever the events reach capacity.

“S.O.S.” — we’re burnin’ up over here. The Jonas Brothers will bring their “Living the Dream Tour” to Golden 1 Center on Friday, Sept. 26. Grab presale tickets today starting at 10 a.m., or general public tickets this Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m.
Plan Ahead
The 2025 NCAA Tournament isn’t in the cards for Sac State, but the university will host some of the tourney’s big games in a couple of years. Sac State is expected to host first + second round games at Golden 1 Center on March 19 + March 21, 2027.
