Yes, Goldensky Festival is canceled for 2025, but there are still so many great events happening this year in the City of Trees. Here are three upcoming events you won’t want to miss.

Sacramento Republic FC Home Opener

Saturday, March 8 | Heart Health Park
Our city’s pro soccer team will kick off its 2025 season with a match against New Mexico United, and tickets are still available. The team will go on to play 16 additional home games through late October 2025.

The A’s 2025 season

Monday, March 31-Tuesday, Sept. 28 | Sutter Health Park
The A’s have temporarily moved to West Sac’s Sutter Health Park while their permanent stadium is being built in Las Vegas, and single-game tickets are now available. The team will play 81 home games at the 14,000-capacity venue in 2025.

Sacramento Grilled Cheese Festival

Saturday, April 12 + Sunday, April 13 | Southside Park
This festival dedicated to the beloved comfort food will feature a beer garden during Saturday’s 21+ event, and live music and activities for the kids during Sunday’s all-ages event. Get tickets.

Civic

Six blocks in South Sac’s Colonial Heights neighborhood could soon earn landmark designation. The Sacramento Preservation Commission recently approved the proposed designation for the stretch of unique architecture spanning San Francisco Boulevard between Stockton Boulevard and 55th Street. The designation now goes to Sacramento City Council for approval. (ABC10)

Outdoors

Sac’s spring + summer watering schedule starts Saturday, March 1 and runs through Oct. 31. Sacramento residents and businesses can use sprinklers a maximum of two days per week on certain days, before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m. Pro tip: Join the city’s webinar on water-efficient landscapes on Tuesday, March 4.

Festival

GoldenSky Festival has been canceled for 2025, but organizers are planning its “bigger and better” return to Sacramento in 2026. The country music fest brought 75,000 fans to Discovery Park in October 2024 and gave the region an economic boost of $14 million. (CBS News)

Transit

Local leaders and the Sacramento Regional Transit District broke ground on the Blue Line’s future Dos Rios Station, which is designed to improve connection for River District and Mirasol Village residents. Construction will begin this summer and is slated for completion by the end of 2026.

Open

Cariño Mexican Cuisine is now open at 729 J St. in downtown Sac at the former Backbone Cafe site. The restaurant offers tacos, salads, soups, and other dishes inspired by Mexico City, all made with cariño. It’s open Monday-Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Announced

Actress and singer Coco Jones will bring her “Why Not More?” world tour to Ace of Spades with special guest Lady London on Monday, June 2. Presale tickets are now available, or grab general public tickets starting tomorrow, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m.

Real Estate

Two modern townhouse and duet communities will debut this Saturday, March 1 at Delta Shores. You can tour six new model homes at the grand opening of Avalon + Balboa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 3- and 4-bedroom homes start from the low $500,000s.

The Kings, Golden 1 Center, and Ticketmaster are offering OneCourt Technologies’ cutting-edge haptic devices for fans who are visually impaired. “Be more. Do Greater Sacramento.” That’s the Greater Sacramento Economic Council’s new brand and slogan, meant to reflect the region’s transformation, ambition, and possibilities. The slogan launched with colorful banners at Golden 1 Center, and the Economic Council urges locals to use #DoGreaterSacramento on social media to “help build our region’s identity.”

“Women Make the City,” a new exhibition highlighting women artists and stories of resilience, will debut at The Gallery by We Are Sacramento with an opening reception this Saturday, March 1, 5-9 p.m. The works will remain on display through Sunday, March 30.
