Republic FC is closer to scoring its proposed downtown Railyards stadium. A new drone video shows progress on the construction of a five-story housing development towering over Land Park — right where the beloved Tower Records building once stood. Sacramento State will open its Native American College in Fall 2025, the first initiative of its kind in California. The college will offer “inclusive, Native-based education that fosters connections to the community and tribal government.” Students can apply after being accepted into Sac State through CSU’s general application process. Farewell, my brave hobbits. There and Back Cafe — downtown Sac’s eatery inspired by “Lord of The Rings” — has closed, with owners Ross + Heidi Rojek citing post-pandemic economic challenges. Capital Books, the cafe’s nearby bookstore, will remain open and continue LOTR-themed game nights, tournaments, and dinners.

The Norwood Mobility Project team wants to connect with locals about the plan to improve safety and mobility along the corridor between Main Avenue + Arcade Creek. Join an in-person workshop at Robertson Community Center on Monday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m., or a virtual workshop on Monday, Dec. 9.

Barber’s Shop Automotive on 16th Street is home to this mural, displaying a panoramic view of Sacramento’s iconic Tower Bridge and nearby downtown buildings. The beloved local auto shop was in a previous building for 42 years before starting over in its current Midtown location after a fire.
Yellow birds are just one of the common themes in Jaya King’s mural work around Sacramento. The colorful + bold exterior of CLTRE Club on N Street is also the work of King, with artistic aid from GsUltimatic and Juliet Elise.
Firehouse Restaurant will serve a three-course menu on Thanksgiving Day from 1 to 8 p.m., and Grange Restaurant and Bar will do the same from 2 to 7 p.m. The Delta King will be open for Thanksgiving Day cruises from 12 to 5 p.m. that include a holiday buffet. Make reservations for all of these ASAP.
