Howdy, friends. The GoldenSky Country Music Festival is Friday, Oct.18-Sunday, Oct. 20 at Discovery Park, and organizers released the daily music schedule. Among the 35+ performers are headliners like Keith Urban on Friday, Thomas Rhett on Saturday, and Luke Bryan on Sunday. Tickets are still available.

Boa Vista Orchards

  • 2952 Carson Rd., Placerville
  • Daily, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Located in Apple Hill, this pumpkin patch is stocked with new gourds every day and is dotted with cutouts + backdrops for you to pose with.

Vierra Farms

  • 2024 season: Saturday, Sept. 21-Thursday, Oct. 31
  • 3010 Burrows Ave., West Sacramento
  • Sunday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. + Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
The city’s largest pumpkin patch also has a cornucopia of activities for visitors to enjoy, from pig races to princess shows.

Rickey Ranch Pumpkin Farm

  • 2024 season: Tuesday, Oct. 1-Thursday, Oct. 31
  • 6950 Cavitt Stallman Rd., Granite Bay
  • Daily, 10 a.m.-Dusk
Visitors can take a ride on some vintage farm equipment and try to spot all the skeletons hidden around this Placer County farm.

  • Brilliant. Bear & Crown — the British pub in Old Sacramento — is opening Bear & Crown Trading Co. on Friday, Oct. 18, a little shop stocked with British goodies. Bear & Crown tells SACtoday that the shop will be located in the space connected next door to the restaurant.
Closing
  • When one door closes, another one opens. Anonimo Pizza near downtown Sac will close on Wednesday, Oct. 15. In its place, co-owner Juanes Ramazzini will open a new restaurant called Luccas. Want to keep up with local openings + closings in our area? Read more on our website. (The Sacramento Bee)

  • Sacramento will host the Highwater Jamboree on Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., a free flood preparedness event at North Natomas Regional Park. Locals can learn about flood-fighting equipment and chat with local, state, and federal agencies about how to prepare for storms and flooding.

  • Local nonprofit Mother Natives plans to install native gardens at five Sacramento locations through its new Deadzone Destroyers Program, and they need experienced gardening volunteers. The first project starts Saturday, Oct. 26 at Mothers Courtyard Garden on 24th Street, followed by HI Sacramento Hostel in mid-November.
