Lights, camera, action: Recapping the 2023 Sacramento Film Festival
Sacramento filmmakers Ryan Hepkema and Kenny Williams discuss their film “Five Stars.” | Photo by SACtoday staff
This weekend, we stopped by the Sacramento Film Festival to enjoy a showcase of art from filmmakers of every variety.
The three-day event was held primarily at Old Sac’s ReUnion Kitchen & Bar, making for a cozy setting that had us rubbing elbows with the artists themselves.
Some of our favorite films included:
“The Dawn of Don Damage” — The story of one man on a quest to save his family, who’s gifted the powers of the 1980s’ greatest action flick hero, Don Damage.
“Reseda” — A comedy flick with a tone and sensibility as dark as its black-and-white cinematography.
“Five Stars” — A short film that explores just how personal a late-night Uber ride can be, complete with exemplary service.
A great game you can break out with the family this holiday season. Learn the rules to “Ransom Notes” in under a minute and get ready for belly laughs.
