Winter is coming — at least it feels that way with Halloween in the rear view mirror and Thanksgiving already around the corner.

So grab your skis and snowboards + tighten those chains, because we’ve got the opening dates for some of our favorite Tahoe resorts.

Note: These are projected opening dates and are dependent upon a number of factors, including weather. As we know, Mother Nature can sometimes be unforgiving.

Daylight saving time ends

A clock with neon light embellishments reading "East Lawn"
Is there a more iconic clock in Sacramento than East Lawn’s? | Photo by SACtoday staff
Daylight saving time came to end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, but — perhaps more than most — you might be wondering what has fallen behind rather than what will “fall back” this year.

Back in 2018, Californians approved Proposition 7 to invest our legislature with the ability to both “change the dates and times of the daylight saving time” and to establish “permanent, year-round” standard time or daylight saving time. So why hasn’t anything changed?

It largely comes down to the fact that the legislature has been stuck in a debate (or caught in a timeloop) over what time system — standard or daylight saving time — is best, which varies greatly depending on the background of the person.

However, the second hand ticks on anyway as a new, separate California bill hopes to make daylight saving time permanent, following an authorization from the federal government.

Sacramento, what do you think? Would you prefer to have permanent daylight saving time? Let us know.
