• The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch this weekend for our region, due to the combination of low humidity and gusty winds. The watch is in effect from 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29.

• $156,824. That’s the annual income needed to purchase the average home in the Sacramento area, according to a recent Redfin report. How do we compare to other cities? San Jose residents need to make $402,287 annually to afford the average home + Fresno residents need an annual income of $114,275. Here are some homes below the average cost. (Redfin)

• Did you know — a cannibal once owned a restaurant in Old Sacramento? Lewis Keseberg was a member of the infamous Donner Party + opened an eatery at the Lady Adams building during the 1850s after surviving the incident. It’s unknown how well his business fared, however, as word of his deeds followed him to California’s capital. (Sacramento News & Review)

• Now former Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker has retired after 50+ years around Major League Baseball as both a player and manager. Baker was a star athlete for Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, and was inducted into the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Hall of Fame in 2010. (Sac Bee)

• We’re singing the praises of Roseville’s Kristen Brown after her appearance on NBC’s “The Voice.” Gwen Stefani selected Kristen as the winner of this week’s battle round after she sang a duet of Celine Dion’s “That’s the Way It Is” with her teammate Juliette Ojeda. (Roseville Today)

• Sacramento came in No. 1 — you read that right — for Halloween weather. The study measured the average forecasted Halloween temperature vs. the average normal temperature, and also took into account the likelihood of rain.
• The River City ranked No. 18 for Halloween fun — considering attractions like the number of haunted houses, costume shops, pumpkin patches, Halloween parties, and candy stores per capita.
