  • Speaking of schools ... a new Folsom elementary school is breaking ground tomorrow, Tues. May 15. Alder Creek Elementary (4545 Old Ranch Way) will be a two-story, 71,000-sqft building serving 750+ children. Construction is set to complete July 2024, in preparation for the 2024-25 school year.

  • 2,486. That’s how many beds nights (number of beds occupied) were provided by the city’s Outreach and Engagement Center (OEC) from November 2022 to March 2023. During this period, OEC was activated 92 times to keep unhoused locals safe during this wet winter season. (Sacramento City Express)

  • City and state officials celebrated the opening of an affordable, environmentally sustainable housing complex in downtown Sacramento. The development was built on state surplus land at 13th and O streets and features 58 micro-units powered entirely by electricity. (Sacramento City Express)

  • Kids Empire, an indoor playground, will join the Mills River Shopping Center in Rancho Cordova at 10309 Folsom Blvd. The Southern California-based chain will occupy a 12,506-sqft space, with elements like climbing walls, play structures, and a dance floor. This will be the business’ first Sacramento location. (Biz Journals)
  • For the first time in years, there’s new activity with the Township Nine project. Developers just broke ground on the first phase of a 372-unit residential project in the River District. This first phase is expected to wrap up by the end of 2024, yielding market-rate apartments that range from one to three bedrooms. (Biz Journals)
