With turkey on many of our minds this time of year, we thought it a better time than any to round up five local butcheries that are helping make Sacramento’s food scene a cut above the rest.

The official headquarters of Team USA for the 2022 World Butcher’s Challenge is notable for its specialty cuts and in-house recipes, like its stuffed pork roast that dates back to 1962. Pro tip: Take one of its butchering classes.
The family-owned shop is known for its hard-to-find cuts like A5 Wagyu beef and wholesale-priced meat packs (think: 5 lbs of New York steak for $41.99).

The National Weather Service is saying a winter storm will severely impactthe Sacramento Valley and its foothills through tomorrow evening. The agency warns that heavy precipitation might impact commutes and that there will be chain controls as well as possible road closures in the mountains.

We recently asked you to recommend your favorite neighborhoods, trails, parks, and nearby towns to take in the fall colors, and you all didn’t leaf us behind.
Well, except for towns — only one answer was for a trail outside of Sacramento proper. Talk about taking pride in the City of Trees.
