When we say public libraries are magic, we’re not just speaking to bookworms. ✨
Outside of the endless shelves of printed knowledge, fantastical escapes, and harrowing journeys, the Sacramento Public Library has amassed a huge catalog of other offerings.
Here are some of the coolest resources available at the library for card holders — and some for those without one. Pro tip: Library cards are free.

Daylight saving time ends
Is there a more iconic clock in Sacramento than East Lawn’s? | Photo by SACtoday staff
Daylight saving time will come to end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, but — perhaps more than most — you might be wondering what has fallen behind rather than what will “fall back” this year.
Back in 2018, Californians approvedProposition 7 to invest our legislature with the ability to both “change the dates and times of the daylight saving time” and to establish “permanent, year-round” standard time or daylight saving time. Why hasn’t anything changed?
It largely comes down to the fact that the legislature has been stuck in a debate (or caught in a timeloop) overwhat time system — standard or daylight saving time — is best, which varies greatly depending on the background of the person.
However, the second hand ticks on anyway, as a new, separate California bill hopes to makedaylight saving time permanent, following an authorization from the federal government.
Sacramento, what do you think? Would you want permanent daylight saving time?
Editor’s pick: I’m loving the sleek minimalism of Pachamama Coffee’s redesign, from its mountainous new logo and poster-ready coffee labels. The fact that the project was handled by a Sacramento-based team — Azules Design Studio — only adds to its delightful impact.
