Sacramento City Council has approved $500,000+ in grant money for income-eligible Sacramentans in need of urgent home repairs.
The Justice for Neighbors Emergency Home Repair Program will disburse up to $15,000 to homeowners for issues like inadequate roofing, plumbing, and HVAC or electrical systems.
Eligibility requirements include:
- That issues must fall under the city’s Dangerous Building Code.
- That applicants be part of a single-family, owner-occupied home.
- That annual gross income must not exceed 80% of the area median income.
The program — which is not yet open for applications — is being run by a partnership between the Community Development Department and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento. Habitat for Humanity is hoping to work with other nonprofits to provide further assistance as well.
