Hello Saturday.

May 21 2022

Feels like summer 🌞

School’s nearly out for summer. That means it’s time to start making plans to keep those youngins busy with engaging activities + outdoor fun — here are four regional summer camps in the River City that are sure to keep any summertime blues at bay.

Kids 8-15 can really get into the swing of things at Tree Top Sac this summer. | Photo by @treetop_sac

🌳 Outdoors

Tree Top Sac Camp | 1300 Lake Washington Blvd. | $190

Held Mon.-Wed. starting June 20, this camp lets kids ages 8-15 clamber high into the trees of the beautiful Heritage Oaks Park. With proper safety + harness instruction, they’ll learn to climb ropes, participate in team building activities, and experience the thrill of zip lining.

🇪🇸 Cultural

Arte en las Américas | 1101 R St. | $1,150

Art is a universal language, and in this 12-day camp from July 11-28 — except Fridays — kids ages 5-10 will be exposed to the Spanish-speaking world through science, music + dance. They’ll also partake in Spanish conversation, and will learn how to read and write.

⛳ Sports

PGA Junior Golf Camp | Locations vary | Prices vary

Tee time, anyone? Get your kids and teens ages 5-17 into the game of golf with either half or full-day camps Mon.-Thurs. starting June 6 at two golf courses around Sacramento: William Land + Bing Maloney. Led by certified PGA professionals, young golfers will learn the fundamentals of the game + course etiquette.

🧪 Science

Mad Science of Sacramento Valley | Locations vary | $175

Expose your young scientists — from first through sixth grades — to STEAM learning in five half-day classes Mon.-Fri. starting June 6. In the Mad Science Lab, they’ll experiment with green glowing liquids, messages written in code, and autonomous robots.

There are even more summer camps — including options from the Sacramento Republic FC, Sacramento Theatre Company, and the Sacramento History Museum — to keep your kids engaged through the long days of summer.

Is coffee making you anxious and less productive?

Forbes recently called Magic Mind “Silicon Valley’s new morning elixir.” | Photo provided by Magic Mind

Magic Mind offers an alternative for the 21st century. Its founder, James, wrote a best-selling book on nootropics (read: supplements that may help improve cognitive function) after a visit to the E.R. made him realize that caffeine was counterproductive for his health + productivity.

Ten years and 70+ formulations later (all backed by a star-studded scientific advisory board), Magic Mind was born. Try it risk-free with code 6AM for 15% off and a 100% money-back guarantee on your order.*

POST OF THE DAY

Another round, Tapper 🕹️

Instagram

📸 @coinopsacramento

The Coin-Op Game Room on K St. in downtown has inserted another quarter to bring back its boozy Power Punch drink.

A nostalgia-inspired “tropical storm” that calls up memories of the 80s — just look at the rad skateboarding quarter on the front — it also has us thinking of a simpler time when gaming companies ran ads like “Now you’re playing with power.”

THE WRAP

Editor’s Pick: Last week, we asked our readers what May’s best event is, and it turns out that it’s actually not one but two events. May is Bike Month + the Sacramento County Fair tied for the top spot, which is making me think I should bike to the county fair… 🚲

Missed yesterday’s newsletter? We told you about the Sacramento Kings’ new coach, Mike Brown.
