Following the recent announcement that Darrell Steinberg will not seek a third term as Sacramento’s mayor, a string of candidates have already begun throwing their names into the ring for the 2024 election.

Here’s everyone who has formally announced their mayoral candidacy so far:

Dr. Flo Cofer
Dr. Cofer is a public health official who has worked for the California Department of Public Health, UC San Francisco, and currently works as the Senior Director of Policy at the nonprofit Public Health Advocates. She has also served as a four-term chair of the city’s Measure U Committee.

Maggy Krell
Krell is a former Deputy Attorney General and won the City of Refuge “Hero Award” for her work with sex trafficking survivors. She also served as chief legal counsel for Planned Parenthood and is on the board of the Sacramento Boys & Girls Club.

Asm. Kevin McCarty
McCarty has represented Sacramento in the State Assembly for nearly a decade and served on the Sacramento City Council from 2004 to 2014. During his time in the legislature, he was Chairman of the Assembly’s Budget Subcommittee on Education Finance. He also helped create Sacramento’s Little Saigon district.
